What foods are helpful in Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD)?

Certain food items are helpful in Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD) either because of their antioxidant properties or certain other factors.

Eating more low-glycemic index foods such as most fruits, vegetables, and whole grains can help in improving NAFLD status. These foods affect your blood glucose less than high-glycemic-index foods like white bread, white rice, sugary items and potatoes.

Food items which researchers found to be helpful in NAFLD are garlic, omega-3 fatty acids, coffee (especially decaffeinated coffee), broccoli, green tea, walnuts, soy or whey protein. Also, eat more low-glycemic index foods, such as most fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.
