What is migraine pain?
A migraine is a headache that causes throbbing pain and pulsing sensation located in the head. Pain is often accompanied by nausea, vomiting, and extreme sensitivity to light and sound.

What is NAFLD?
NAFLD is an abbreviation for Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. From the name itself, it is a bit clear that this health condition occurs when too much fat is stored in the liver cells. This disease is separate from fatty liver disease because NAFLD affects people who drink little to no alcohol.
NAFLD often does not have signs or symptoms. However, people can suffer from fatigue, pain or discomfort in the upper right abdomen, abdominal swelling, enlarged blood vessels, enlarged spleen, red palms and yellowing of the skin and eyes.
Is there a relationship between migraine pain and NAFLD?
Yes. The available scientific evidence suspects that people with liver disease are at a higher risk of developing migraine pain. A paper published in 2014 informs that NAFLD in migraine patients can increase the frequency of migraine attacks, and longer disease and attack durations.
Various studies have shown that migraine causes metabolic disorders like NAFLD. However, these papers also state that the exact mechanism through which migraine and NAFLD are related is unclear. Another paper published in 2018 informs that confusion and headaches are quite common among people with liver disease. Also, migraine often remains undiagnosed as there is no specific diagnostic test to confirm the condition.
