Can a stent be inserted during an angiogram?

Not exactly. A stent is inserted during angioplasty. However, while performing angiography, it is possible that narrowed or obstructed blood vessels are found. So, the doctor may immediately conduct angioplasty to widen the blocked or narrowed blood vessels and put a stent.

Modern angioplasty procedures can put a short wire-mesh tube called a stent in the target blood vessel to help the blood flow freely. An angiogram is the scanned images of blood vessels taken during angiography.
