The Claim

In a Facebook post, a photo of Indian cardiologist Professor Praveen Ravisekhar is accompanied by a claim that hypertension can be alleviated with a quick home remedy. The post redirects users to a website where it is stated that Professor Ravisekhar asserts the benefits of home-based cleansing of blood vessels, especially for the elderly. He claims that this cleansing can significantly improve health, reduce blood pressure, and even cure nine chronic ailments common among retirees. According to him, cholesterol, blood clots, and calcium crystals are the main culprits that accumulate in blood vessels and lead to various health issues. To achieve effective vessel cleansing, Professor Ravisekhar recommends a drug called Cardioton, which contains active oxygen molecules and beneficial plant extracts. He suggests that this approach can restore blood vessels, internal organs, joints, vision, memory, and even aid in weight loss and restoring potency in men. However, obtaining Cardioton may be challenging due to limited availability. Interested individuals can apply on the clinic’s website to receive the drug while supplies last.

Fact Check

Is the claim made in the video correct?

It does not seem so. The Facebook post, as well as the website, named Inehabika.shop, it directs to, appears to be false or misleading. Our research started by attempting to identify the doctor mentioned in the video claim. However, we could not find any evidence of a cardiologist and professor named Praveen Ravisekhar who asserted that blood vessels can be cleansed at home. Also no evidence shows that this doctor is promoting the medicine Cardioton. Upon conducting a Google reverse image search, we discovered a website displaying the photo of Dr. Bimal Chhajer, whose name was falsely replaced with Professor Praveen Ravisekhar. Additionally, the website falsely claimed that performing a specific action every morning would eliminate blood pressure permanently.

What is Cardioton?

As per the Inehabika.shop website, Cardioton contains extracts of Ginkgo Biloba, bee venom, and young larch cones. Cardioton is claimed to provide numerous benefits for the body, including cleansing and repairing blood vessels, rejuvenating internal organs and joints, aiding in fat reduction, enhancing vision and memory, and improving potency in men. The product is said to dissolve cholesterol deposits, blood clots, and calcium build-ups within blood vessels, while also increasing the tone and flexibility of the vessels, ultimately leading to overall improved health.

However, it’s worth noting that we found multiple brands using the similar name but offering different ingredients in their products.

Besides this, the article emphasizes that cholesterol is a significant factor in heart and vascular diseases, leading to health issues when it accumulates in blood vessels. High levels of LDL cholesterol can contribute to atherosclerosis, narrowing and stiffening arteries with plaque buildup. However, other lifestyle and genetic factors also play a role in cardiovascular diseases.

Regarding thrombus mass (blood clots) and calcium crystals in blood vessels, the article highlights their risks, such as heart attacks and strokes. While calcium buildup is associated with cardiovascular issues, the description oversimplifies their formation and consequences, as various factors contribute to these conditions.

The article claims that Cardioton, a drug for cleaning blood vessels, can positively impact health by stabilizing blood pressure, restoring vision and memory, and overall well-being. While lifestyle changes like a heart-healthy diet, exercise, and avoiding smoking can support cardiovascular health, the claims about Cardioton lack independent verification. There is no sufficient scientific evidence or medical approval for the claims made in this story.

Is Cardioton running out of stock?

It does not seem so. The product is easily available at most online retail websites. We even found several websites that have reviewed Cardioton and included links to the page where the product is sold to increase sales and attract more buyers.

Can you clean blood vessels at home?

Not exactly. Some alternative medicine practices claim to offer methods to ‘clean’ or ‘detoxify’ blood vessels. However, it is important to note that the scientific evidence supporting these claims is limited or lacking. Certain practices may have potential benefits for cardiovascular health. But their ability to directly clean or remove plaque from blood vessels is not possible without medical observation. Cleaning blood vessels, or preventing and treating cardiovascular conditions, requires proper medical evaluation, diagnosis, and supervision.

Cardiologist

While certain supplements and dietary changes may be beneficial for heart health, they should never be used as a replacement for medical treatment or professional advice. To this, Dr Ashok Kumar, Cardiologist at HDNA AROGYAM HOSPITAL adds, “Apitherapy is an alternative therapy that utilizes honeybee products, especially bee venom, to treat various human diseases. Although there are no randomized control trials yet, numerous studies explore the biological activities of bee venom components and conduct preclinical trials to develop them into the next generation of drugs. It’s essential to await further reliable trials before fully embracing this treatment approach.”

Dr. Mohit Bhagwati

Likewise, Dr Mohit Bhagwati, Consultant at Holy Family Hospital informs, “Bee venom therapy, or apitherapy, is being explored as a potential treatment for high blood pressure and heart issues. The venom contains peptides that could relax blood vessels, reducing blood pressure. Additionally, these peptides may have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, supporting heart health. However, research is limited and at an early stage, needing further investigation for safety and effectiveness. Consulting a medical professional is crucial before considering this therapy. Currently, it’s not an approved treatment for hypertension or heart ailments in humans.”

What causes blocked blood vessels?

Blocked blood vessels are primarily caused by atherosclerosis, a condition where plaque accumulates in artery walls, narrowing their diameter and restricting blood flow. Key factors contributing to atherosclerosis include high cholesterol levels, high blood pressure, smoking, diabetes, obesity, and a sedentary lifestyle. Family history, age, gender, inflammatory conditions, and an unhealthy diet also play roles in its development. The consequences of blocked blood vessels can lead to heart attacks, strokes, or peripheral artery disease. Treatments involve lifestyle changes, medication, and medical procedures such as angioplasty or bypass surgery.
