Fact Check

Is it okay to drink coriander juice every day?

Drinking coriander juice every day can be beneficial for most people when consumed in moderation as part of a balanced diet. Coriander juice is rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, which can support overall health and well-being. However, excessive consumption may lead to potential side effects or interactions with medications, particularly for individuals with certain health conditions.

Is Coriander good for hormonal imbalance?

Coriander has potential benefits for hormonal balance due to its rich content of bioactive compounds, including flavonoids and phytochemicals. Some studies suggest that these compounds may help regulate hormone levels and support overall hormonal health. However, more research is required to fully understand the extent of coriander’s effects on hormonal balance in humans. As with any dietary supplement or intervention, it’s essential to consult with a healthcare professional before using coriander or any other herb for managing hormonal imbalances, especially if you have underlying health conditions or are taking medications.

Does eating coriander everyday help with thyroid?

Maybe. In 2021, a study found that Coriander sativum contains various bioactive compounds that could potentially influence thyroid function through different molecular pathways. However, most current research is confined to basic studies on animals or cells. Extensive and meticulously designed clinical trials are necessary to validate these proposed effects on human thyroid health. Another study in 2018 investigated the impact of Coriander sativum on rat thyroid glands. The study utilised special tests and observed that while rats treated with a certain medicine exhibited filled glands, those treated with Coriander sativum had normal ones. The plant contains beneficial compounds known as flavonoids, and no adverse effects were noted even at high doses. Additionally, thyroid hormone levels increased with treatment, and tests confirmed normal thyroid function in treated rats. These findings suggest that Coriander sativum might offer potential benefits for thyroid issues, yet further research is essential to ascertain its efficacy definitively.

Dietitian

Dietician Kamana Chauhan highlighted that, “There is  some research suggesting that coriander may have beneficial effects on thyroid health due to its rich content of bioactive compounds. However, further studies are needed to confirm its effectiveness in treating thyroid conditions. Always make sure to consume coriander in moderation and always keep a track on your thyroid level.”

When it comes to foods like soy and moringa, there’s often uncertainty about their impact on thyroid health. Some foods might stimulate thyroxine production, while others could potentially assist. Therefore, it’s wise to delve into the scientific evidence before drawing conclusions about their effects on thyroid function.
