Fact Check
Does Dr. Anthony Fauci not exist?
No. This claim lacks a scientific basis and appears to be spreading disinformation. Dr. Fauci is a well-known doctor in the United States. He has been a medical adviser to seven presidents and has been on TV and in photos many times.
He became famous during the COVID-19 pandemic. This also brings a lot of misinformation, associating him with COVID-19 and its vaccine for all the wrong reasons. We have previously debunked claims that suggested Dr. Fauci advocated for locking down all the unvaccinated. In another debunked claim, Dr. Anthony Fauci was falsely accused of referring to children as test subjects. Yet another false claim suggested that Dr. Anthony Fauci’s sister had published a book about the omicron coronavirus variant.
Likewise in context with this story, there is enough proof that Dr. Fauci is real, even though the Instagram post says otherwise.
Dr. Fauci worked at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and retired at the end of 2022. When Dr. Fauci announced he was retiring, President Biden said he was a dedicated public servant and often sought his advice on the pandemic.
Dr. Fauci received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2008 from President George W. Bush for his work on the AIDS epidemic.
