Cut the size of the onion down to the same size as the garlic clove. Before going to bed, insert the pair slightly into the rectum. Leave there until the morning when you have regular bowel movements, they will fall out automatically. Do not use this method if you have been bleeding or if you are bleeding. “

What are hemorrhoids?
Hemorrhoids, which people often call piles, are like swollen veins in the anal canal. The anal canal is the part that connects the rectum to the anus. This condition can make people uncomfortable and itchy. Sometimes it might hurt or even bleed a little.
Hemorrhoids can be inside or outside the anus. The ones inside are in the tube where people poop from. These usually don’t hurt because that part doesn’t feel pain very well. But sometimes, they can make the poop have bright red blood. The ones outside are under the skin near the anus. These are dilated blood vessels that have become so enlarged that they protrude. People might feel these as soft lumps that can hurt and itch. Sometimes, they can get blood clots inside them, hurting them even more.
There are different reasons why hemorrhoids happen. Pushing too hard while pooping, having stomach problems like constipation or diarrhea a lot, and being pregnant increases the risk of hemorrhoids. Also, obesity, sitting or standing for a long time, and not eating enough foods with fiber can all make hemorrhoids more likely. Also, as you get older, the tissues holding the veins in your bottom can weaken.
Can complementary alternative treatments treat hemorrhoids?
Possible. Complementary alternative treatments can be beneficial to soothe the symptoms of hemorrhoids. Evidence shows that adopting a high-fiber diet and using supplements, applying herbal ointments containing ingredients like witch hazel or aloe vera, utilizing oils such as tea tree or coconut oil, considering homeopathic remedies like Aesculus, exploring acupuncture for pain relief, practicing gentle yoga or relaxation techniques, making lifestyle adjustments for better anal hygiene and posture, and finding comfort in herbal teas can also be helpful.
Can garlic and onion be used as a suppository to cure hemorrhoids?
There is no scientific evidence to support the use of garlic and onion as suppositories to cure hemorrhoids. Using garlic and onion as suppositories for hemorrhoids is not a recommended or proven treatment. Hemorrhoids, swollen blood vessels in the rectal area, are typically treated with various methods such as topical creams, dietary changes (increasing fiber intake), warm baths, and in severe cases, medical procedures like rubber band ligation or surgery.
Using homemade suppositories made from garlic or onion could potentially cause irritation, burning sensations, or allergic reactions in the sensitive rectal area. The mucous membranes in that region might not react well to direct exposure to such substances.”
Dr. Shashank Agrawal, Consultant Surgical Gastroenterologist at Max Healthcare advises, “In our practice, we don’t prefer these types of treatments. There is no good quality evidence to prove this also. Hemorrhoids develop due to prolapse of the vascular cushion. It’s an anatomical disease with physiological pathogenesis. I would rather advise against these practices as they would lead to possible infection, due to trauma to the sphincter complex. Avoiding straining, consuming plenty of fluids, and a high-fibre diet are advised. Additionally, good gut habit is the way forward.”
As advised by experts, garlic and onion can irritate the delicate skin of the rectum and anus, and they can also cause burning and pain. Additionally, garlic and onion can contain bacteria present on its surface that could lead to infection.
Similarly, there are speculations that herbal spray can cure hemorrhoids. However, this is not true.

Remember, inserting anything in the body for purported benefits, such as inserting capsules in the vagina for weight loss can lead to several negative effects.
