A social media video on X circulating on social media purportedly depicting an LGBT Parade in Spain and featuring minors dressed in provocative attire has sparked controversy. The post questioned whether pedophilia was publicly accepted in the LGBT community, citing the video as evidence. The original caption of the shared post claims that children participating in the carnival in Spain were dressed in girls’ clothes and parading through supportive crowds.

Does a recent video on social media show LGBT Parade in Spain?
No. The video depicted a gathering of individuals wearing in costumes that somewhat are inappropriate for their age and gender. However, the presence of a taller adult woman dressed formally, who seemed to be distributing snacks to the participants, suggested that these individuals might be minors.
As the group proceeded along a street, an indistinct female voice speaking Russian could be heard in the background. The translation reveals her stating, “…here is a carnival in Spain. Here is what I have to say: I resent it. These are children. Look! Am I the only person sensing that? What is wrong with me? Because I don’t get it…”
The recording captured no explicit references from the Russian speaker to an LGBT parade or pedophilia. It remains uncertain whether the woman hailed from the local community or was a visitor to the Spanish city of Torrevieja.
The footage was from the 2024 Torrevieja Carnival, which took place over three weekends in January and February, primarily featuring various parades by different groups.
El Pais, a Madrid-based national newspaper, covered the Torrevieja Carnival, specifically addressing the parade captured in the video. The article described the parade as a critique of political and social ideologies related to feminism and LGTBI groups. Participants wore costumes representing different political factions’ views on gender issues. The children’s section of the troupe also wore similar attire.
As per Mayor Eduardo Dolón, Carnival embodies criticism, satire, and provocation, and emphasize that the portrayal of the event was exaggerated. He informs that the parents’ intention was not to hypersexualize their children with the costumes. El Pais reported Dolón’s affirmation that the city would not censor or monitor costumes in future carnivals, despite covering substantial costs for the event. Even the Torrevieja Carnival Cultural Association’s Instagram post, characterized the event solely as a carnival, and nothing else.
