According to the National Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, fats are high in calories, and its consumption can increase your chance of developing obesity. Therefore, fats can be harmful for Non-Alcoholic Liver Disease (NAFLD) patients.
Consumption of saturated fats and trans fats is harmful. You should replace it with unsaturated fats, especially omega-3 fatty acids. This is because omega-3 fatty acids may reduce your chance of heart disease if you have NAFLD. Avoid saturated fats sources, such as poultry (except for lean white meat) full-fat cheese, red meat, fried foods, bakery items, etc.
Also, avoid foods and drinks that contain large amounts of sugar, added fructose/liquid glucose. Fructose is found in sweetened soft drinks, sports drinks, sweetened tea, juices and some of the ready-to-eat sweets.
Lastly, if you have NAFLD, you should minimise or completely avoid alcohol use, as it can further damage your liver.
