No. Angioplasty is not a permanent solution because it does not solve the cause of the blockage. As per the Medanta Hospital website, 15-20% of angioplasty cases might be at the risk of narrowed arteries again. They would eventually need bypass surgery.
Angioplasty seems a much better option when the blockage is in a small area within the blood vessel. Such blockages can be treated through a minimally invasive procedure. However, bypass surgery gives better results when the blockages are in multiple areas or in the larger arteries.
