To transform the healthcare system of India, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi launched the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission to strengthen the health facilities in India. It will now connect the digital health solutions of hospitals across the country with each other. The Mission will provide every citizen with a digital health ID and their health record will be digitally protected.
India is working on a holistic and inclusive health model, which stresses preventive healthcare along with easy, affordable and accessible treatment. A comprehensive network of AIIMS and other modern health institutions is being established in the country and work on establishing one medical college in every three Lok Sabha constituencies is going on. At the village level, primary health centre networks and wellness centres are being strengthened.
The National digital health mission aims to erase the digital divide that has plagued India for a very long time with only about 30% of our people having access to digital devices and technologies on a regular basis. From ease of access to quality of care, to impact on clinical outcomes, to inclusion of the underprivileged, to stronger governance and accountability, this change will enhance efficiency and transparency in the system.
