Furthermore, C. grandis demonstrates excellent antiplasmodial activity against Plasmodium falciparum, reducing parasite counts in subjects infected with Plasmodium berghei. The plant also showcases larvicidal activity. Additionally, C. grandis extracts have been evaluated for antipyretic effects and inhibitory action against various bacteria and fungi.

In a study, the alcoholic extract of ivy Gourd exhibited hepatoprotective activity against hepatotoxicity in experimental subjects. Treatment with the ethanolic extract at a dose of 250 mg/kg significantly reduced levels of SGPT, SGOT, and bilirubin. The hepatoprotective effects were attributed to the antioxidant properties of flavonoids present in Ivy Gourd. Flavonoids, triterpenes, and tannins were identified as antioxidant agents in Ivy gourd, suggesting their role in interfering with the formation of free radicals.
