A WhatsApp message doing rounds claims that the COVID experts of Mumbai’s Nanavati Hospital have suggested a set of treatments for COVID-19 patients. The hospital has responded to the claims and clarified that these were not suggested by their doctors. We mark this claim as false.
The Claim
A WhatsApp message claims that Dr. Ansari and Dr. Limaye of Nanavati Hospital has given a set of treatment recommendation for COVID patients- Vitamin C, warm water with lemon, ginger and jaggery mixed with ghee, hot milk with turmeric and steam once a day. The claim also suggests that the hospital is following this treatment with all its patients.

Fact Check
Was the message circulated by the doctors of Nanavati Hospital?
No. The hospital management has refuted the claim with an official statement on twitter. They clearly mentioned that the treatment advice was not from their doctors.
Are the treatment advice valid?
Vitamin C helps boosting immunity and prevents from any virus related disease including COVID. However, these are not generalized treatment methodologies for all patients. As symptoms vary, the treatment methodology and medicine dosage also needs to vary. This can only be decided by a certified medical professional. Even the Nanavati hospital’s tweet mentions the same thing – “Please follow any treatment protocols only after consulting your doctor.”
