Alzheimer’s disease is challenging for the victims and their families. Moreover, Alzheimer’s disease requires a lot of patience from caregivers, which can become challenging even for seasoned professionals.
Alzheimer’s disease often begins with mild cognitive impairment. As this disease declines the cognitive ability of people with the condition, they can do anything beyond imagination. Such behaviour arises from the loss of inhibitions, which makes people with the condition go wild. One of the earliest recognized instances of initial Alzheimer’s symptoms in the early 1980s involved Claude Shannon. He was an American mathematician known as the father of information theory. He lost his cognitive ability very quickly however, remained a tinkerer throughout his life.
This case shows that people with Alzheimer’s disease can follow a proper routine when effectively managing their condition. If not, then it is not uncommon for people to end up roaming streets with no idea of their destination. They may also forget how to speak or take a bath.
They should also expect delusions and hallucinations that may make you believe things that are not real or have no filter. Also, they may forget memories and find it difficult to remember their family and friends.
Alzheimer’s disease can be deadly if not controlled. In terminal cases, the victims are advised to live under the supervision of caregivers. As the victims slowly lose their sense of judgment, it becomes impossible for them to carry on even the basic day-to-day activities without assistance.
But there is always some good in bad. Alzheimer’s disease is a good chance for people to pursue new passions. If you were never good at drawing, you may find it entertaining to paint a portrait once in a while. Moreover, Alzheimer’s disease brings family members close as they would want to make many memories together.
