Is forgetfulness a sign of a disease?

It is possible. Forgetfulness can be a symptom of Alzheimer’s disease, mild cognitive impairment, dementia, depression, anxiety and other mental disorders. However, it is also a sign of ageing. Even your lifestyle can cause mild memory slips, which can be worrisome. Lack of sleep, excessive alcohol and tobacco consumption, menopause, stress, emotional problems and an unhealthy lifestyle can increase memory slips. However, infrequent instances of memory slips are not serious or even a matter of concern. But if memory slips happen frequently, consulting a health care professional is advisable.
