Can angina reduce my life expectancy?
Do people with angina die faster?
Angina attacks indicate underlying heart disease and a risk of progression to a heart attack. Such a heart condition can decrease life expectancy proportional to the disease's severity and the individual's age. However, with early diagnosis, regular monitoring, adequate treatment and lifestyle and dietary modifications, you can live a full life with angina.

People with angina can have a regular life expectancy and lead a normal life if they receive proper treatment and make healthy lifestyle changes. However, there was a study that was done on selected participants. It concluded that “Median expectation of life at age 70 years was reduced by about 2, 5 and 6 years for those with angina, myocardial infarction, or both”.

The available evidence suggests that angina is more common among older people and becomes frequent with advancing age. So, it is crucial that angina is detected early, and the underlying condition treated as it can be a sign of an impending heart attack. With these measures, people with angina can live a normal and happy life. A healthy routine can also help reduce the chance of getting angina again along with heart problems.
