Can stress kill you?

Too much of stress can kill you. While your body knows how to respond to occasional stressful events in life, if persistent and regular, stress may affect your body adversely. According to the American Psychological Association, stress is associated to the various leading causes of death that include; heart disease, cancer, accidents, liver cirrhosis, lung ailments, and suicide.

Chronic or sustained stress can lead to depression and even psychological and mental disorders. It can affect the functioning of brain. It can also cause imbalances in blood sugar levels, raises blood pressure, and reduces immunity. It also affects the immune system and makes us susceptible to other diseases.
