Can stress cause obesity?

Long-term stress can cause certain biochemical changes in the body that trigger cravings for food and lead to weight gain. As per researchers, hormones play a major role in this process.Chronic stress releases excess cortisol in the body which is responsible for increasing appetite and encourages food cravings. Consuming fatty food leads to obesity.

When you are under stress, avoid yourself gain excess weight. Do not overeat even if you are hungry. Eat healthy snacks and avoid food high in sugar and fat.

However, in many cases, stress also leads to loss in weight. Since different people react differently to stress, their eating habits also becomes different. This causes obesity in some people and causes weight loss in many others.
