Can food affect my back pain?

Not exactly. Eating certain foods cannot cure back pain completely. However, foods can modulate cortisol hormone which plays a role in inducing pain. Cortisol hormone is essential for regulating the stress response and affects every organ in the body.  A website says that cortisol and adrenaline can cause involuntary tightening of muscles in the neck, shoulder and spine. Also, prolonged tension in these areas can lead to back pain, specifically lower back pain.

A 2014 study has highlighted that cortisol dysfunction can induce uncontrolled inflammation to cause depression and pain. So, an anti-inflammatory diet along with proper exercise and medicines can help cure back pain.
