Can diet prevent arthritis?

Not exactly. There’s no proven way to prevent arthritis. You can take steps to reduce the risk of stiff and painful joints as a person ages. In most cases, arthritis is caused due to genetics. There may be a fault in the immune system that causes the body to attack its own tissues in the joints, as seen in Rheumatoid Arthritis. Regular exercise is one of the most important strategies that may help you to live an easy life with another type of arthritis, i.e., osteoarthritis arthritis. Exercise can help keep your weight down, which reduces stress on your joints, which is helpful in osteoarthritis. 

A balanced, nutritious diet will eventually prevent further damage to the joints. Changes in diet, such as avoiding food that can increase inflammation, can help with the symptoms of arthritis, which include pain, stiffness, and swelling. Consumption of foods that are rich in Vitamin A, C, and E can prevent further damage to the joints. Include a variety of foods to ensure adequate vitamins, minerals, protein and fibre.
