Yes. A hospital patient with the Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infection can have visitors. Hospitals often keep such patients in a separate zone and follow complete precautions to limit the spread of the bacteria to other patients in the hospital. Visitors will be reminded to clean their hands before or after visiting the patient.
Because MRSA is contagious, this bacteria can easily spread from person to person through hands or things carrying the bacteria. A (2019) study has shown that visitors having serious health problems, long-term skin conditions, and open wounds are at a greater risk of contracting MRSA than healthy people.
In conclusion, even though visitors are allowed in the hospital, it is advisable to avoid meeting a patient with MRSA to reduce the risk of spread.
