There is no evidence that suggests blood pressure medications can worsen the Covid-19 symptoms.
Systematic reviews found no conclusive evidence to suggest blood pressure medication makes the symptoms of COVID-19 worse. Researchers suggested, “more studies are required” to reach to any conclusion about the same.
The Irish Health Service Executive (HSE) identifies people with high blood pressure as “high risk groups” and recommends to “continue medication.”
The European Society of Cardiology (ESC) and the CROI, the Irish heart and stroke charity recommends people continue taking their blood pressure medications and not stop even if they are infected. This is to prevent any heart related complications that may arise by stopping the medicines.
