What is the best thing you enjoy about treating patients?
The best thing about treating patients is when they feel improvement in their health issues and achieve their goals.
When is a patient easy to treat?
Patients are easy to treat when they discuss about their concerns openly and truthfully.
When is a patient difficult to treat?
Patients who do not take their health seriously and follow the treatment plan created by their doctors according to their health condition and convenience can be difficult to treat.
How helpful is it to the treatment course, if the patient is knowledgeable about the treatment procedure, benefits, risks etc.?
It is very helpful. If the patient is aware about the basics of the treatment, then it is easy to counsel. It gets easy for them too. This would create a space for healthy discussions about the treatment procedure.
How can a patient improve their knowledge about the treatment procedure?
Patients can educate themselves through research studies and references and videos. Nevertheless, they should always discuss whatever they read or watch regarding any medical condition with their doctor or any healthcare expert.
How medical misinformation act as a problem in the overall treatment procedure?
Medical misinformation is dangerous. But what frightens me is that people are not ready to cross check the information they get on the internet and other unreliable sources despite having ways to do it. The only solutions to medical misinformation are creating awareness and spreading health literacy among the people.
A few advice that you always give to your patients
Always discuss about your concerns related to health with experts and cross check their (expert) credentials before discussion. Always stay updated by studying research papers and don’t believe random information on the social media.
