What does health mean to you?

Health is freedom & security. The foundation upon which I get to live my life the way I want. Also health is about taking care of my family and my professional stakeholders.

Which book are you currently reading? Which book has had the greatest influence on your professional life?

Surrender: 40 Songs, One Story by Bono of the band U2. There are far too many books that have had a great influence on my professional life. Some of them fiction, and most of them are autobiographies like Amazon.com: Get Big Fast – Inside the Revolutionary Business Model That Changed the World. For God, Country & Coca Cola, and many, many more.

Has your personal approach to health ever influenced the strategies and marketing campaigns at QubeHealth?

Absolutely. We built Qube with our own families in mind. If it works for them, it works for our audience. That’s how everyone at Qube approaches it.

How do you balance your demanding role while maintaining your personal health and well-being?

It’s tough. Especially in India, where the ambient stress of travel and traffic is an every day experience. Couple this with the variables of running an early-stage company and finding the time to take care of you physical and mental health is rather difficult. But I squeeze the time out of my day, at least 4 days a week. I am a student of Martial Arts, and this has helped me stay in tune with my mind and body, with the discipline it requires.

Can you give us a sneak peek into your typical day?

I am an early riser, up by 6:30 AM and starting the day with gratitude and greeting my two dogs. This is followed by light stretches and meditation, and then straight into work by 7:30 AM (from home). I knock off emails, planning or any intellectual work before I get ready to head to the office by 10 AM. Once I reach the office, between 10:30 and 11:00 AM, I have a series of meetings (online and offline), followed by a group lunch with the team. The second half of the day would be more of the same, with outside meetings when they occur. I head to the gym 3 days a week, at 6:00 PM, and get home by 8:00 PM, to shower and get some dinner. Spend some time with the family, catchup on some more emails and leadership team phone calls, and call it a night by 11:00 PM.

Is there any morning routine you swear by?

Stretching, meditation, gratitude, hugging my dogs, writing down my thoughts.

On a scale of 1-5, how mentally and physically healthy do you feel now?

That would be a 3.5 as an average. Some days, I drop to a 3 and other days, I feel like a 4. But the goal is to get to an average of 4.5.

Has your perspective on health and mental wellness influenced the narrative of work at QubeHealth?

I hope so. While we still have a few smokers in the office, we perhaps have an equal number of people that have joined the gym since they’ve joined Qube. We have policies that encourage physical and mental health and well-being.

What is your work-health balance mantra?

Treat healthcare like a business appointment. You may miss an appointment or be late to some, but always get back to the schedule.

Which aspect of your health makes you feel more connected to your work?

Managing my mind. I am cerebral by nature. So I treat my brain like a processor – you got to clear the cache, cool it down, and keep it running at peak efficiency. When you do that, it takes care of your output.
