He is actively engaged in public health initiatives, particularly in Type-1 Diabetes awareness and rural health camps.

In a conversation with THIP Media, he stresses on the importance of health literacy that can help patients to make better decisions regarding their health.

When a patient explains to you about their health problems, what are the most common mistakes they make in their communication?

A common mistake people make when communicating with a doctor is being vague about their symptoms, often forgetting to mention their main complaints. Instead, they focus on minor or unrelated issues, making it harder for the doctor to assess their condition accurately.

What does health literacy mean to you, and why is it important in patient care?

Health literacy is the ability to understand and navigate healthcare effectively. It includes knowing which specialist to consult for specific health concerns, ensuring timely and appropriate treatment.

If a patient is knowledgeable about the basics of their health condition, how helpful is it for the overall treatment procedure?

When a patient understands the basics of their health condition, it simplifies communication and facilitates a smoother management plan for both the doctor and the patient.

How much can medical misinformation impact treatment procedures?

Medical misinformation can significantly impact treatment by leading patients to misunderstand their condition, delay proper care, or follow ineffective or even harmful remedies. As a doctor, I often see cases where misconceptions create fear, resistance to evidence-based treatments, or unrealistic expectations.

What are the most common myths or misinformation you see your patients falling prey to?

One of the most common areas of medical misinformation involves homeopathic and Ayurvedic medicines. Many people believe these treatments are always safe, free of side effects, or effective for all conditions. However, a lack of scientific validation, potential contamination, and interactions with conventional medicines can pose serious health risks. It’s important to rely on evidence-based treatments and consult healthcare professionals before using alternative remedies.

What is your most common advice to patients to stay away from health misinformation online?

The most common advice I give my patients is to always verify their doctor’s qualifications and stay informed about their condition through reliable sources. Being aware of their health helps them make better decisions and engage more effectively in their treatment.
