Don’t let medical misinformation mislead you: Dr Vishal Arya

Just In

What is the best thing you enjoy about treating patients?

One of the best things of treating patients is the opportunity to communicate with children. I have found that getting down on their level is an effective way to engage with them. When I do this, I am able to establish a stronger connection and gain their trust.

When is a patient easy to treat?

Patients who are open to their healthcare provider’s advice and actively participate in their treatment plan are generally easier to treat.

When is a patient difficult to treat?

Treating children with disruptive behaviour can be difficult in paediatric dentistry, as can treating adults who are set in their ways and insist on their own treatment ideas.

How helpful is it to the treatment course, if the patient is knowledgeable about the treatment procedure, benefits, risks etc.?

When a patient is well-informed and knowledgeable about their treatment options, it makes the job of healthcare professionals easier both before and after the procedure. Such patients are easier to convince and explain the potential benefits and risks of the treatment. This allows for smoother communication and cooperation between the patient and the medical team.

How can a patient improve his knowledge about the treatment procedure?

The internet is a valuable resource, but it is critical to seek information from reputable sources. There is always a risk of encounter with conflicting or misleading information if authentic sources are not used.

How medical misinformation act as a problem in the overall treatment procedure?

Medical misinformation can have a negative impact on patients about treatment procedures. This is especially problematic when misinformation leads patients to underestimate the importance of proper care for their health.

A few advice that you always give to your patients…

Avoid junk food. Anything processed with a high sugar and oil content as well as anything made with refined flours should be avoided. If you have any questions about your health, always consult your doctor instead of trying to deal with it on your own, as it may cause trouble for your health.
