What is the best thing you enjoy about treating patients?
The best thing that I love about my job is to help somebody become scar free, to make somebody look more gorgeous, to instil confidence in someone that comes from looking good. It is the most gratifying feeling to make someone feel happy and confident about themselves.
When is a patient easy to treat?
When a patient has complete faith in their doctor and the healing process, committed to skin journey and have reasonable expectations. It helps a lot when they are ready to go ahead with a clear mind and are truthful about their skin and hair concerns and follow the treatment procedure diligently.
When is a patient difficult to treat?
It becomes very difficult to treat when patients are super demanding and seek multiple opinions from different doctors and tend to depend on misinformation more than their doctors. A lot of patients start lying about following their treatment protocols as advised to them. And most importantly, a lot of patients lack patience, but skin care is not an overnight process.
How helpful is it to the treatment course, if the patient is knowledgeable about the treatment procedure, benefits, risks etc.?
It is very helpful. I always encourage my patients to be invested in their care and that educating themselves about their concerns/condition is a part of that process. This really helps in their treatment procedure.
How can a patient improve their knowledge about the treatment procedure?
Patients should refer reliable sources and look for the latest information. They should look for sources of medical information which have proper research and studies backing them up.
How medical misinformation act as a problem in the overall treatment procedure?
Medical misinformation is a serious problem as internet research can often turn up conflicting information and multiple unreliable results. People should use internet research to stay informed with the list of questions that they can clarify with their doctors further. One of the biggest problem about misinformation is that people just believe what they read or hear from other sources including internet. Instead, of asking about it to their doctors.
A few advice that you always give to your patients
I always tell my patients that wellness has no shortcuts. It is a wholesome approach of your body, mind, nutrition. All these factors play equal roles in your wellbeing. We also need to adapt to the latest technology from where you can choose which information to pick. You can then use it according to your requirement after discussing with a healthcare expert.
