What is the best thing you enjoy about treating patients?
I enjoy the experience of resolving the dental concerns of patients and help them look good and confident. Moreover, when a patient steps into the clinic with unbearable pain and gets relived by treatment rendered, the gratitude I get in return makes my day.
When is a patient easy to treat?
The patients with whom I able to build strong doctor-patient relationships, and they follow my instructions and suggestions with strong will power and positive attitude are easy to work with.
When is a patient difficult to treat?
Often patients are victim of misinformation from surroundings or media. They might be skeptical, negative, non cooperative or insensitive at times making our jobs difficult.
How helpful is it to the treatment course, if the patient is knowledgeable about the treatment procedure, benefits, risks etc.?
It is very helpful because patient awareness plays an important role as their cooperation increases significantly. When treatment options are given to such patients, they tend to choose the one that suits them the best. Also, if a knows about the treatment procedure, then they will have an idea of discomforts during the treatment, which helps the doctors as well as the patients in the long run.
How can a patient improve their knowledge about the treatment procedure?
A patient can improve their knowledge about a treatment procedure from awareness campaigns, surveys by various reliable organisations, authentic articles in print and digital media, medical journals and verified blogs by different health care professionals.
How medical misinformation act as a problem in the overall treatment procedure?
It is a serious concern. Acting on the basis of incomplete knowledge of something is a dangerous thing. Misinformation can lead to patients opting out of certain medical procedures, which can be helpful for them, and that may lead to health issues in future for them.
A few advice that you always give to your patients.
I always advice my patients that one must prioritise their health and well-being as its the real wealth. Frequent check ups with their doctors is one of the most important things that people should maintain. However, one of the most important things is to save yourselves from inauthentic and misleading information.
