I enjoy interacting with new people and seeing the satisfactory smile on their face when their health concerns are resolved.
When is a patient easy to treat?
It gets easy when the patient has complete trust on their doctors and when they follow the given instructions properly. It also helps when they do not believe in myths and try to understand science behind the disease.
When is a patient difficult to treat?
Lack of trust and misinformation can make the job very difficult.
How helpful is it to the treatment course, if the patient is knowledgeable about the treatment procedure, benefits, risks etc.?
It is very helpful as explaining the condition to the patient and the result of the treatment becomes easier.
How can a patient improve their knowledge about the treatment procedure?
Patients can read the leaflets provided by the doctors and the hospitals about various health conditions. They can also gather their information from some authentic and reliable websites on the internet.
How medical misinformation act as a problem in the overall treatment procedure?
Medical misinformation is obviously very dangerous. As an eye specialist, I have seen patients with squint not consulting doctors because they think that it’s their god’s wish, and therefore, nobody should touch it. This leads to permanent defect, and as a result, the vision in the eye cannot be improved.
A few advice that you always give to your patients…
I always advice my patients that precaution is better than cure.
