Quick Take

A media website claimed the Pfizer Covid vaccine causes mass depopulation through infertility. We fact-checked and found the claim to be Mostly False.

The Claim

A media website named DAILYEXPOSE published an article titled ‘New Study & Pfizer Documents prove Covid-19 Vaccination is going to cause mass Depopulation through Infertility & Death’.

This article referred to various published evidence to support the claim.

Fact Check

Will Pfizer Covid vaccine cause mass depopulation through infertility?

It does not seem so. No evidence suggests the Pfizer Covid vaccine can cause mass depopulation through infertility. Even the published evidence hyperlinked in the DAILYEXPOSE article does not confirm the same.

The available studies have shown that both ovaries and sperms are exposed to Pfizer’s mRNA Covid vaccine. However, the exposure does not permanently impair fertility. A study that analysed the impact of the covid vaccine on ovaries concluded ‘Embryos produced from oocytes exposed in vivo to lipid nanoparticles containing mRNA for the SARS CoV-2 spike protein are not less likely to produce pregnancy or more likely to miscarry’.

The studies on ovaries hyperlinked in the DAILYEXPOSE article also showed that ovaries do get exposed to the Covid vaccine. However, their results do not claim pregnant or lactating women are at the risk but suggest human trials as both conducted experiments on animals.

While another study done to assess sperm quality concluded ‘Pfizer BNT162b, SARS-CoV-2 vaccine has no deleterious effect on sperm samples, and can be administered safely’.

When we read the hyperlinked research material in the DAILYEXPOSE article we found similar conclusions in them. A hyperlinked study conducted on semen donors (SD) concluded, ‘In this longitudinal multicenter study, we found a selective temporary decline of sperm concentration and total motile count 3 months post-vaccination followed by recovery among SD. While on first look, these results may seem concerning, from a clinical perspective they confirm previous reports regarding vaccines’ overall safety and reliability despite minor short-term side effects. Since misinformation about health-related subjects represents a public health threat, our findings should support vaccination programs. Further studies concentrating on different vaccines and populations (ex. subfertile patients) are urgently required’.

The DAILYEXPOSE article has hyperlinked the Pfizer safety document as well. Now we know that the Pfizer safety document is a comprehensive list of all recorded adverse events occurring after the vaccination, irrespective of whether vaccination-induced them.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website recommends Pfizer Covid mRNA vaccine to pregnant and lactating women.

THIP MEDIA TAKE: The available published material does not confirm Pfizer Covid vaccine is harmful but suggests the opposite for pregnant or lactating women. The Pfizer Covid vaccine is available for pregnant and lactating women. Hence, the claim remains mostly false until proven otherwise.
