A few social media users are claiming that a Covid-19 vaccination card is mandatory to enter Walmart stores in Canada. There have been speculations on whether the same rule will be now applied to Walmart stores across the world. We fact-checked and found that claim is false.
The Claim
Some users shared a notice allegedly from Walmart that says that shoppers will need to provide proof of vaccination in order to enter any walmart in Canada. Such posts can be seen here, and here.

Fact Check
Did Walmart issue an order that customers in Canada will need to show their vaccination card to enter stores?
No. Walmart did not issue any such order.
There is no mention of any such policy implementation on the website of Walmart Canada and its parent company. Also, Walmart Canada has refuted the claim from their official Twitter account saying, “customers do not have to show proof of vaccination to shop at our stores.”
Is there a possibility that such a restrictions be put in place in future?
Yes. It is very much possible. Not specifically in case of Walmart, but State Govts. can impose rule of mandatory vaccine cards for public places.
A number of countries and states have already put up restrictions where vaccination card is made mandatory to enter a number of public places. In Canada, in the state of Ontario, people will have to show vaccination reports before they can enter restaurants, nightclubs, theaters, casinos, and convention centers from September 22. However, places where people get “food from grocery stores” are exempted. Similarly, another state, British Columbia, has implemented a similar policy but they too have exempted grocery stores.
France had earlier imposed mandatory vaccination cards in many public places like restaurants, bars, concerts, etc.
