The Claim
An Instagram post uses a meme featuring characters from the Bill & Ted movies claiming that Bill Gates wants to fix the problem of too many people by killing them with new vaccines. The post claims Bill Gates made this statement in a 2010 Ted Talk.

Fact Check
Does Bill Gates want to control the population by killing people with vaccines?
No evidence confirms Bill Gates has ever made such a statement. We did a simple keyword search on Google and found the 2010 Ted Talk titled ‘Innovating to zero!’ in which Bill gates highlighted the need for eliminating carbon dioxide emissions. In the video, he informed us that population growth is one of the major reasons for an increase in carbon usage.
At the time stamp 4:35, Bill Gates was seen saying, “The world today has 6.8 billion people. That’s headed up to about 9 billion. Now, if we do a really great job on new vaccines, health care, reproductive health services, we could lower that by, perhaps, 10% or 15%.”
It is not the first time that Bill Gates has been linked to claims that have no credible evidence. THIP MEDIA has previously fact-checked and debunked another similar claim that says Bill Gates call for the withdrawal of the Covid-19 vaccines.
