A image shared by a number of social media users claim that NASA has said that man made climate change is a hoax. We fact-checked and found that the claim is false.
The Claim
“NASA admits that man-made climate change is a hoax! In 1958, NASA first observed that changes in the solar orbit of the earth, along with alterations to the earth’s axial tilt, are both responsible for what climate scientists call ‘global warming.’ In no way, shape or form are humans warming the planet by using fossil fuels or eating beef,” reads the social media posts.

Fact Check
Did NASA say that man made climate change is a hoax?
No. Rather, in a report published by NASA, the space organization clearly mentions, ‘Direct observations made on and above Earth’s surface show the planet’s climate is significantly changing. Human activities are the primary driver of those changes.’
The report further mentioned that the climate of the earth has changed throughout history and most of these changes ‘are attributed to very small variations in Earth’s orbit that change the amount of solar energy our planet receives.’ This part of the report in isolation may have lead to the misconception that human’s are not contributing to the climate change.
However, NASA has added in the report, ‘The current warming trend is of particular significance because it is unequivocally the result of human activity since the mid-20th century and proceeding at a rate that is unprecedented over millennia. It is undeniable that human activities have warmed the atmosphere, ocean, and land and that widespread and rapid changes in the atmosphere, ocean, cryosphere, and biosphere have occurred.’
A lot of misinformation and confusion is spreading on social media regarding climate change. These claims primarily deny the reality of climate change. We also came across another social media post that claimed Klaus Schwab’s daughter is predicting permanent climate lockdowns.
