An audio message has been circulating on WhatsApp. The audio message says that “a dangerous time has begun” in respect to Covid-19. The claim is the audio message is from one of India’s top most doctor – Dr. Naresh Trehan, Chairman & Managing Director, Medanta Hospitals. We fact-checked and found that the claim is false.
The Claim
“I’m about to share important news I received from China, Italy and WHO. A dangerous time has begun and it’s going to be a crucial time from 27 March till 14 April,” says the voice in the audio clip who further advises people to stay at home, take care of elderly and drink a lot of water.

Fact Check
Is the message from Dr. Trehan of Medanta hospital?
No. The audio clip is not from Dr. Naresh Trehan of Medanta hospitals.
Medanta Hospital clarified that the audio clip doing rounds on WhatsApp is fake on their official Twitter handle on March 27, 2021.
We further found that the same audio message became viral during the start of Covid pandemic in 2020. Medanta Hospitals had refuted the claim even then.
