Fact Check

What are jelly soaps?

Jelly soap or soap jellies are foaming bathing soaps made with gelatin. They can be homemade or readily available in various varieties, differing in their shapes, sizes, colours and added ingredients. Because of the presence of gelatin, these soaps are wiggly and jiggly.

Is it possible to lose fat overnight by the external application of home remedies?

No. Burning fat is not naturally possible by any external application. In order to reduce or burn fat, a multidimensional approach is needed. It includes eating a balanced diet with fibre and protein, avoiding alcohol, processed foods, sugar, and high-fat food items and inculcating physical activities such as exercise, strength training, and swimming in your daily regime.

Dietitian Kamna Tank further clarifies this by stating, “No, it’s not possible to burn fat overnight by any kind of external application of home remedies. On the contrary, it can have many side effects on the skin. Fat loss is possible by eating a balanced diet with more protein and fibre. No single remedy can treat the problem. Before experimenting with anything, you should always discuss it with your general physician and dietitian.”

Can you lose weight by the application of jelly soap?

No. There is no conclusive evidence that proves that you can lose weight and be no longer bloated with the application of jelly soap. In the jelly soap video, there is no mention of a chemical the product possesses that will make people lose weight just by soaking in it or rubbing it on their bodies while bathing.

Also, there might be certain underlying medical conditions due to which one is gaining weight, such as diabetes, thyroid disease, and PCOS, to name a few. In such cases, treating the underlying condition is necessary to lose weight.

THIP Media Take – To lose weight, a person must follow a multidisciplinary approach which includes dietary modifications, lifestyle alterations and treating any underlying medical condition, if present. Any external agent’s role in losing weight lacks credible evidence. Therefore, the claim remains false until proven otherwise.
