The Claim

According to a You tube video  titled “How to Remove Cysts and Fibroids at Home in 2022,” a tea made with ginger, oregano, turmeric, and black pepper can cure ovarian cysts and uterine fibroids naturally. The video has been shared below.

Fact Check

What are our current understandings of ovarian cysts and uterine fibroids?

Fibroids are firm masses that can develop from the muscular wall of the womb. These are typically caused by stress, obesity, nutritional, and hereditary factors. These are reported to be common in postmenopausal women. However, these are usually harmless. Certain fibroids, on the other hand, can cause heavy vaginal bleeding, abdominal or back pain, urinary difficulties, and constipation. In addition, severe cases may interfere with conception.

Ovarian cysts are fluid-filled sacs that develop as a result of hormonal imbalance, PCOS, or pregnancy. These form within or on the ovaries. These cysts cause symptoms ranging from mild to severe. This could be attributed to their varying sizes.

Is there a role of natural remedies in the management of female reproductive cysts and fibroids?

Yes. Certain traditional formulations, particularly those with cinnamon, have been described. These are advantageous for uterine fibroids. Green tea is an extremely powerful antioxidant that has been advocated for uterine fibroids. As they are thought to have an impact on fibroids’ proliferation, transformation, inflammation, and oxidative stress. Castor oil, ginger juice, beetroot juice, garlic, Epsom salt, and chamomile tea, on the other hand, can be utilized to relieve ovarian cysts organically.

Is a combination of ginger, oregano, turmeric and black pepper beneficial for cysts and fibroids?

Yes, but not always. It is crucial to highlight that numerous natural therapies have come into play as a result of the significant side effects of drug therapy, particularly in the early phases. Furthermore, it should be mentioned that all the ingredients in the recipe may not be beneficial for the condition.

Turmeric, also known as yellow saffron, contains curcumin. Curcumin has been shown to help with PCOS and ovarian cysts. It lowers excess androgen in PCOS. Studies show that curcumin has anti-inflammatory and anti-proliferative characteristics. Furthermore, it works by reducing oxidative stress and thereby increasing the overall function of the ovary. Certain studies have shown that regulated curcumin formulations are safe.

According to a scientific study, ginger exhibits phytotherapeutic and medicinal characteristics. These mostly include antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties. As a result, the versatile herb helps to diminish hormonal dominance in a variety of ways. Raw ginger can help alleviate menstrual pain caused by a lack of uterine blood supply. It may also be used to make hot compresses for stomach discomfort. As a result, ginger juice could be used as a natural remedy for ovarian discomfort.

Oregano contains numerous antioxidants and antimicrobial compounds. As a result, animal studies have been conducted to demonstrate their response to oxidative stress. Thus, it could be used to manage menstrual cramps. However, oregano extracts and individual ingredients have not been adequately researched for their safety in human medicine.

Black pepper is also a natural antioxidant source. It should be noted that black seed powder helps the body’s defense mechanisms. And, it relieves fever, cough, and cold symptoms, as well as aids digestion.

We asked Naturopath Dr Namrata Saxena whether ovarian cysts and uterine fibroids could be cured with a tea recipe containing turmeric, ginger, oregano, and black pepper. She advised that natural remedies could be beneficial in relieving the associated symptoms. However, it is not the definitive treatment of the condition. Thus, ovarian cysts and uterine fibroids must be handled by a qualified doctor.

Is it true that herbal remedies may entirely treat Ovarian cysts and Uterine fibroids?

No. Fibroids and cysts are primarily managed with dietary changes and physical exercises. In severe cases, medical or even surgical intervention may be required. This is because natural remedies could relieve symptoms. Nevertheless, if they are large enough to interfere with conception or cause severe symptoms, they must be treated under medical supervision.

THIP MEDIA TAKE: Herbal remedies have gained popularity over the last decade. Additionally, they are widely available. However, they are not a definitive treatment option for treating ovarian cysts and uterine fibroids. Herbal healing requires more detailed research and data. As a result, while tea with ginger, turmeric, oregano, and black pepper may provide symptomatic relief, it is not a reliable treatment. As a result, we conclude that the claim is only partially true.
