Quick Take
A social media post claims that ginger, turmeric, and ACV water can cure fatty liver in 14 days. We did the fact check to term this claim as false.

The Claim
A viral Instagram reel suggests that a mix of ginger, turmeric, cinnamon, lemon juice, and apple cider vinegar (ACV) can cure fatty liver in just 14 days. It also links having a “ponch” (belly fat) with guaranteed fatty liver.

Fact Check
Is it possible for a ginger, turmeric, and cinnamon drink to cure fatty liver in 14 days?
No, there is no scientific evidence that this drink can cure fatty liver in two weeks. While the ingredients mentioned do have some health benefits, there’s no proof that this specific combination can reverse fatty liver, especially within just 14 days. Fatty liver, especially non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), is a condition where fat builds up in the liver. It doesn’t have a quick fix.
Ginger and turmeric may help reduce inflammation. Regarding liver health, while studies suggest curcumin, a component of turmeric, may help reduce liver damage and NAFLD severity, larger, longer trials are necessary to confirm its role. Also, the curcumin from turmeric is very hard to absorb in the body due to poor bioavailability. Cinnamon, on the other hand, might help regulate blood sugar. Finally, while apple cider vinegar and lemon juice are often linked with “detox” claims, their actual effect on the liver is minimal and not medically proven to “cure” it.
NAFLD is quietly becoming a major health concern across India, often going unnoticed until it worsens. What works best for managing it is consistent lifestyle change—gradual weight loss, a balanced diet, cutting down on sugar and refined carbs, and staying active. No single drink or herb can replace this.
Despite this, some claims suggest that apple cider vinegar can cure fatty liver from the roots—an idea that is misleading and not backed by strong scientific evidence.
Can belly fat confirm fatty liver with 100% certainty?
No, belly fat does not mean you definitely have fatty liver. Having a belly (ponch) can be a risk factor for fatty liver, but it’s not a diagnosis. Many people with belly fat may have a healthy liver, and some lean people can still have fatty liver. The only way to confirm fatty liver is through proper medical tests, like an ultrasound or a liver function test.
Saying there’s a 100% guarantee is misleading and medically inaccurate.
Is it safe to drink this mix every morning?
Maybe, but with caution—and it won’t treat fatty liver. Most of these ingredients are generally safe in small amounts. However, drinking strong ginger-turmeric-cinnamon concoctions regularly might irritate the stomach or interact with medications, especially blood thinners. ACV is acidic and may harm tooth enamel or cause acid reflux if taken undiluted or on an empty stomach daily.
Lemon juice and ACV don’t “detox” the liver. The liver already has its own natural detox system and doesn’t need help from trendy drinks.
Can any natural remedy cure fatty liver quickly?
No, fatty liver doesn’t go away overnight or with a single home remedy. The liver can heal over time, but only with long-term changes. Weight loss of 5–10% over a few months, reducing alcohol intake, following a nutritious diet, avoiding certain foods high in fat and sugar, and engaging in regular physical activity are proven ways to reduce liver fat. In some cases, certain medicines may be prescribed, but no home remedy or drink has been clinically proven to cure fatty liver quickly.

We reached out to Dr Sharad Malhotra, Head of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Therapeutic Endoscopy at Aakash Healthcare, New Delhi, to understand whether a home remedy can cure fatty liver in just 14 days. He clarified, “Fatty liver usually develops silently and doesn’t cause symptoms early on, but it can slowly lead to serious liver damage. There’s no quick fix or magic remedy—especially not one that can cure it in just 14 days. The most effective way to manage it is through long-term lifestyle changes like eating a balanced diet, cutting down on sugar and alcohol, staying active, and losing weight gradually. Even a 5% to 10% weight loss can improve liver health.”
Dr Malhotra added, “It’s important to get a yearly abdominal ultrasound and liver function tests to catch fatty liver early. In some cases, further tests like Fibroscan or a liver biopsy may be needed. Managing blood sugar, cholesterol, and avoiding unproven herbal mixtures or unnecessary medications also goes a long way in protecting your liver. A healthy liver takes time and consistency—not shortcuts.”

We spoke with Chhavi Kohli, Chief Diabetes Educator & Certified Clinical Nutritionist at Medanta—The Medicity, Gurgaon, to learn whether diet alone can reverse fatty liver in just 14 days. She explained, “It’s a gradual process that needs consistent lifestyle changes over several months. One of the key things we now understand is the role of the gut-liver axis. An unhealthy diet and sedentary lifestyle can disturb the balance of gut bacteria—this allows toxins and inflammatory compounds to enter the bloodstream, reach the liver, and worsen liver inflammation.”
She continues, “Including probiotics—like curd, yoghurt, and fermented foods—and prebiotics—like fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and flaxseeds—may help by restoring gut balance. This can reduce inflammation and improve fat metabolism. However, these are not quick-fix solutions or cures. They work best when combined with overall dietary improvements, weight loss, and regular exercise as part of a long-term liver health plan.”
Similarly, another post misleadingly claims that a homemade herbal tea can cure 300+ stomach problems.
THIP Media Take
The claim that ginger, turmeric, and ACV water can cure fatty liver in 14 days is false. There is no medical evidence that a mixture of ginger, turmeric, cinnamon, lemon, and apple cider vinegar can cure fatty liver in 14 days. The claim that belly fat guarantees fatty liver is also incorrect. These home ingredients may offer general health benefits, but they cannot replace science-backed lifestyle changes and medical treatment when needed.
