Quick Take

A social media post claims that a juice diet can cure uterine and breast lumps, even stage 4 cancer. Our fact check shows this claim is false.

The Claim

An Instagram post suggests that drinking a juice made from amaranth leaves, curry leaves, mint, coriander, ginger, raw turmeric, and beetroot for three days can activate autophagy and cure cancer, including stage 4 cases. The post claims that a woman’s stage 4 cancer went into remission in just eight days using this method. Another woman allegedly expelled uterine lumps in 15 days through the same juice and exercise routine. The post cites Ayurveda as a basis, stating that removing “kupit mal” (toxic waste) eliminates disease.

Fact Check

Can a 3-day juice diet cure lumps in the uterus or breasts?

No, there’s no scientific evidence that a juice diet can cure uterine fibroids, polyps, sarcomas, or breast tumours. Uterine fibroids are benign growths of muscle tissue, while sarcomas and breast tumours can be cancerous. Medical treatments like surgery, hormonal therapy, or chemotherapy are standard, depending on the condition. A juice diet might provide nutrients, but it lacks the power to shrink or eliminate these abnormal growths. Studies show dietary changes can support overall health, but they don’t replace medical intervention.

Despite this, some social media posts claim that a juice made from guava, paan, turmeric, and greens can dissolve tumours quickly. This is false.

Do the ingredients in the juice have proven anti-cancer properties??

Some ingredients have general health benefits, but they do not cure cancer.

Does this juice trigger autophagy to cure stage 4 cancer?

No, it does not. Autophagy is a natural process where cells recycle damaged parts, and fasting may enhance it. However, the claim that a 3-day juice fast triggers autophagy strong enough to cure stage 4 cancer is baseless. Research on autophagy and cancer is still experimental—mostly in labs and animals—not a proven treatment in humans.

A 2021 review found that autophagy has a dual role in cancer. It can suppress tumours in early stages but later help cancer cells survive under stress, facilitating their spread. A 2013 review also highlighted this complex role, showing that while autophagy can prevent cancer initially, it may later support tumour growth.

A 2020 review found that blocking autophagy may help stop cancer growth and improve treatment, particularly in certain cancer types. Researchers are studying drugs like hydroxychloroquine to inhibit autophagy and its role in cancer immunity and metastasis. A 2014 review showed that cancer treatments affect autophagy differently—some increase it, while others inhibit it—and scientists are working to understand these patterns to develop better therapies.

Stage 4 cancer means the disease has spread widely and requires aggressive treatments like surgery or radiation. A juice diet alone cannot reverse this.

Does Ayurveda support a homemade juice-only cure?

Not really. Ayurveda promotes diet and herbs for health, including detoxifying the body. The quote “Remove aggravated waste, and any disease will be cured” oversimplifies things. While Ayurveda values natural remedies, it doesn’t claim a single juice or home remedy can cure complex conditions like cancer. Modern Ayurvedic practitioners often combine it with conventional medicine, not replace it entirely.

Expert opinion

Dr P Rammanohar

We reached out to Dr P. Rammanohar, Research Director at Amrita School of Ayurveda, for his expert take on this claim. He explained, “Cancer is not a single disease and there is no universal cure for it. Different types require different treatments, often involving chemotherapy or targeted therapy. No single herb or remedy works for all cancers. While some studies suggest certain herbs may have anticancer properties, they are not proven treatments for humans due to a lack of sufficient clinical research.”

Dr Mohit Sandhu, Ayurvedic doctor, Gurugram

We also spoke with Dr Mohit Sandhu, Ayurveda Consultant from Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh. He highlighted the role of Ayurveda in cancer care but cautioned against using it as a standalone treatment. He explained that cancer treatment can benefit from an integrative approach combining Ayurveda and allopathy. Chemotherapy, though essential in many cases, can weaken the immune system. Ayurveda can help manage its side effects and support overall well-being through diet, lifestyle, and specific therapies. Rasayana therapy has shown promise in some cases, but relying solely on Ayurveda for cancer treatment is not scientifically supported.

Dr Muskan Thakur, BAMS, Indore

Similarly, Dr Muskan Thakur, Ayurveda Consultant from Indore, says, “No, relying solely on Ayurvedic juices or diet to cure stage 4 cancer is not scientifically supported. Stage 4 cancer is an advanced condition that typically requires an integrative approach, including medical treatments such as chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, radiation, or surgery, depending on the type and progression of cancer. However, Ayurveda can play a supportive role in managing symptoms, improving quality of life, and reducing treatment side effects. It has shown potential in boosting immunity, reducing inflammation, and supporting overall well-being. A well-planned Ayurvedic diet rich in antioxidants, fresh juices, and herbal preparations can complement medical treatment but should not replace it. It is best to consult both an oncologist and a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner to ensure safety and effectiveness.”

Can stage 4 cancer be cured in 8-15 days with juice and exercise?

No, this is medically impossible. Stage 4 cancer is advanced, often incurable, and managed to extend life, not cure it. Even the fastest treatments, like chemotherapy, take weeks or months to show results, and remission isn’t guaranteed. The idea that a juice diet and exercise could expel lumps or cure cancer in just a few days defies all known science. Personal stories in the post lack verifiable proof and sound like anecdotes, not evidence.

Dr Annusuiya Gohil, Ayurveda Doctor

We reached out to Dr Annusuiya Gohil, MD Scholar at the All India Institute of Ayurveda, to learn whether stage 4 cancer can be cured in a few days through home remedies. She explains, “This claim is indeed misleading and potentially dangerous. Cancer—especially in advanced stages like stage 4—is a complex, life-threatening condition that requires proper medical care and treatment. Suggesting that a juice made from a combination of herbs and vegetables can cure cancer undermines the seriousness of the disease and the rigorous treatment protocols it demands.”

Dr Gohil continues, “From an Ayurvedic perspective, it is important to clarify that Ayurveda is a comprehensive system of medicine—not a collection of home remedies or ‘ghar ke nuskhe’. It involves a systematic approach to diagnosis and treatment, tailored to an individual’s constitution (Prakriti), the nature of the disease, and other factors. While Ayurveda incorporates the use of herbs, these are part of a broader treatment plan that may also include dietary guidance, lifestyle changes, Panchakarma therapies, and more. Simply consuming herbs or juices without proper guidance does not constitute Ayurvedic treatment.”

She further clarifies, “For anyone dealing with cancer, it is crucial to consult qualified healthcare professionals—whether they specialise in modern medicine, Ayurveda, or an integrative approach. An Ayurvedic doctor can provide guidance on supportive therapies that may complement conventional treatments.”

Dr Gohil adds, “Promoting unverified remedies as cures for cancer is not only scientifically baseless but also deeply irresponsible. It is essential to approach such claims with scepticism and rely on qualified medical advice for treatment.”

Similar false claims have circulated before. Some suggest that strict diet and lifestyle changes alone can reverse stage 4 cancer, while others promote unproven remedies like baking soda or soursop as cures. All of these claims ignore medical evidence and mislead patients seeking real treatment.

THIP Media Take

This claim that a juice diet can cure uterine and breast lumps is false. The idea that a juice diet and exercise can cure uterine lumps or stage 4 cancer in days is not backed by science or credible medical practice. While the ingredients are healthy, they’re not a substitute for proper treatment. Cancer and uterine conditions need expert care, not quick fixes. Don’t fall for miracle cures—consult a doctor for real solutions.
