Fact Check
What is Vaccine mandate in the United States?
Vaccine mandate refers to a State order that says people must be vaccinated to do certain things like working, traveling, or even attending a concert. While getting vaccinated still remains an optional choice for citizens, legal institutions can prohibit them from entering premises in case they are not vaccinated.
In respect to COVID-19 vaccine, President Joe Biden issued a mandate that required all employers with 100 or more employees to make sure their workers receive the vaccine or have a COVID-19 test weekly.
Has Delta Airlines refused to follow the COVID-19 vaccine mandate?
No. Rather, the CEO of Delta airlines had told to news media that they will follow the vaccine mandate. In fact, CEO said, “What the mandate was trying to do is for companies that don’t have plans to get their people vaccinated. We already had our plan. We’re well ahead of the president by a month,” indicating that vaccination had always been a priority for the company.
In addition, on its website, Delta Airlines has clearly declared that all new hires for the company needs to vaccinated against COVID-19.
There is no recent news update, company quote or incident that indicates any change of strategy on account of Delta airlines. The ‘announcement’ mentioned in the social media claim doesn’t exist either.
