Fact Check

Why is Covid vaccination essential?

The Covid-19 vaccine is essential to build protective immunity in the recipient. It is more reliable and safer to protect ourselves than getting sick with Covid.

The vaccine reduces your risk of infection as your body produces antibodies to the virus, which helps your immune system fight the virus if exposed and reduces the chances of getting the disease. Even though one can still become infected after being vaccinated, the severity of the disease and the likelihood of virus transmission also decreases.

THIP Media has busted several myths related to the safety of Covid vaccines, such as Do vaccines contain toxic substances that harm you?Covid vaccines are unsafe because they are developed so fast; Covid vaccines make you a ticking time bomb, etc.

Are unvaccinated people not dying from Covid-19?

No. Sadly, that is not true, and unvaccinated people are dying from Covid-19. There is no scientific proof that can prove that this claim is true. The death rate among unvaccinated people is still far higher than that of vaccinated people. Moreover, before the vaccine was even made accessible to the public, there have been accounts of various deaths among the population due to Covid-19.

The Director-General of ICMR, Mr. Balram Bhargava, on March, 2022, while addressing the briefing by the Health Ministry, informed that “92 per cent of the deaths in 2022 have occurred among unvaccinated individuals. He also said that India is the second country which has a vaccine tracker. Vaccine effectiveness in mortality prevention has been measured. The first dose is responsible for 98.9 per cent vaccine effectiveness, and if both doses are given, then it is 99.3 per cent effective.”

Moreover, ONS data, UK, shows that between January 01 to March 31, 2022, 37,961 unvaccinated people died with Covid-19 mentioned on their death certificates. It further highlights that the disease Covid-19 is the underlying cause of death in most cases.
THIP Media has already busted a similar claim that getting infected is the best vaccination
