What is prediabetes?

Published on:

Prediabetes is a condition in which your blood sugar levels are higher than normal but not in the diabetes range. It is also referred to as borderline diabetes. Without lifestyle changes, if you have prediabetes, you are likely to progress to Type 2 diabetes. If you eat healthy foods and incorporate physical activity in your routine you can bring back your blood sugar levels to normal.

Prediabetes can be referred to as impaired fasting glucose (if you have higher than normal sugar levels after a period of fasting), or as impaired glucose tolerance (if you have higher than normal sugar levels following eating).

You can reverse prediabetes by having a proper diet, committing to some regular exercise and maintaining your weight.
