Can type 2 diabetes be prevented?

Published on:

Type 2 diabetes can be prevented by making healthy lifestyle choices, and that is true even if diabetes runs in your family. If you have already been diagnosed with diabetes, adopting healthy lifestyle choices can help prevent complications. You can prevent Type 2 diabetes by eating healthy foods. You should also focus on fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. You should aim for a minimum of 30 to 60 minutes of moderate physical activity. If you are overweight you should lose weight in order to reduce the risk of diabetes.

Include brisk walking as a part of your daily routine. Sitting still for long periods can increase your risk of type 2 diabetes. Consult with your doctor on a regular basis and take medications if required.
