Can I eat pizza during gestational diabetes?

Published on:

No, you should not eat pizza or any other junk food if you are diagnosed with gestational diabetes during your pregnancy. Even 2 slices of pizza can elevate your blood sugar levels. Cravings for pizza and other junk foods can increase during pregnancy but if you have gestational diabetes it is necessary that you make your food choices very carefully. Remember, if gestational diabetes is not controlled, it can harm your baby.

Some good food choices for gestational diabetes include fresh fruits and vegetables, sugar-free food options, fat-free or low-fat milk, eggs, and cheese. Adequate nutrition is required for your health as well as for the growth and development of your baby.
