Diabetics should firstly prevent the development of COVID-19 by taking the usual precautions of washing hands, wearing a mask and practising social distancing. You should follow a proper diet and exercise and take your medications regularly to keep the blood sugars well controlled. The primary objective should be not to come in contact of Coronavirus in anyway. If you fall sick (even if it is mild sickness) you should follow the sick day routine of keeping themselves well hydrated and taking supplemental insulin.
You should remember that if you are suffering from diabetes, your ability to resist infections lower down which causes slow healing. This can cause major complications if you get infected or if you delay treatment. So, keep a watch on your vitals and have a very low index of suspicion. Consult your doctor and get tested at earliest, if you feel sick.
